“Exciting Contemporary Flute Music”
This book is the brainchild of Marya Martin who commissioned these 8 works from contemporary composers. It is a diverse selection ranging from 'Velocity' by Kenji Bunch which was inspired by the 'Mannheim Rocket' way of writing to the evocative 'Nancye's Song' by the Pullizer Prize-winning Paul Moravec. Chen Yi's Three Bagatelles is based on Chinese folk music while David Sanford's 'Klatka Still' has jazz influneces. Martin performed these 8 works in a single concert which must have been a real workout - this collection really does need a great technique. However, if you're looking to play exciting contemporary flute music you will find certainly find something to suit you here.
