“Imaginative!”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
This imaginative piece takes the form of a prayer-like melody followed by a four second rest followed by an improvisation. The Animal Kingdom is the subtext here, and each free section is based various birds and mammals. There is also another sub-plot of north, south, east and west so there are endless possibilities here. Extended techniques are suggested by way of performance notes so you're not completely left to your own devices. This is really worth a try if you want to stretch your imagination and fly away!
From the Publisher
Wamakaskan is comprised of 4 melodies in the form of prayers corresponding to each cardinal direction. After each prayer, the performer listens for 4 seconds and improvises animal sounds that correspond to the previous prayer: Ate Wiohpeyata, Ate Waziyata, Ate Wiohiyanpata, Ate Itokagata, and Wakantanka (all creation).
