From the Publisher
Rudy Wiedoeft (1893-1940) was born in Detroit, Michigan, the son of German immigrants.
He started playing violin and clarinet at a young age, and by the 1910s had made his name in New York as a professional saxophonist - in those days, still a new and unusual instrument. His virtuosity earned him the nickname “the Kreisler of the saxophone”.
