“Really interesting!”
If you'd like to play a piece that is very interesting but without any technical issues try the Valentine Piece by Henryk Gorecki. This pares down the minimalist element to a handful of notes and the resulting success or otherwise of the performance will rest on the handling of the many rests. The addition of a bell at the end is really enticing! Valentine by Christopher Rouse is more of a challenge but equally effective. The more complex rhythms and larger note range give this piece it's character. The two together make a great pairing but each will stand alone. Programme planning made easier!
