Giuseppe Sarti (1729-1802) was an Italian conductor and composer of church music and more than 50 operas. After studying composition in Bologna he travelled to Copenhagen where he lived and worked for some 30 years before returning to Italy, first to Venice and then to Milan where he became choirmaster at the cathedral.
