Our Description
Belcke is a member of the generation of composing flutists whose aim was to show that the flute provides the same virtuoso means as other instruments. With the new edition of the Caprices op. 6 we wish to make further examples available again in which the term caprice includes both free imagination and the practice of modulation and virtuoso technique. Even today, these "solos" should not be considered mere "études" but exercises that provide a "feeling of pleasure", and try to encourage the playful use of virtuoso techniques, train the control of the ear, and stimulate the players' imagination when inventing cadenzas of his or her own.
