From the Publisher

A tango adagio, filled with nostalgia and retrospect about an elderly woman reminiscing her life while looking into a hand-held mirror.

Tristeza was inspired by my aunt Teresa from Naples, Italy, While gazing into a hand-held mirror I imagined my lovely aunt reminiscing on the passage of time. The music was composed at that moment, designed to capture her enchantment, perhaps all elderly women, reflecting on their youth and the aging process. The structure is ABA. The A and A prime material reflect the sadness one feels for people in our lives who, on their passing, can only be replaced by memory. The middle joyful section captures her essence as a young child. This music is for aunts, grandparents, the elderly whom we love, whom we wish will never leave us.
