“Dutch class!”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
This is a super piece from the Dutch composer Rosy Wertheim which was written in 1942. She uses the colours of the instruments really well with some agile writing coupled with imaginative spacing of the parts. There is dissonance and harmony, particularly in the lovely slow movement where the melodic lines of the flute and clarinet are underpinned by the bassoon very effectively. This is great work to add an extra dimension to a wind recital - a real touch of Dutch class.
