- Interesting, worth a look
From the Publisher
This song-cycle takes its title from 'Trinity at low tide', the first of three settings of poetry by Anne Stevenson. The latest work in a sequence of Samuel's vocal music inspired by the verse of this award-winning writer, Trinity subtly evokes themes of mortality through images of the sea and of rural life, expressed with the poet's meticulous eye for detail. The duet of flute and high voice forms an important element in the beautifully woven textures of this outstanding essay in vocal chamber music, which was premiered on 1 March 2005 at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
