“A Collector's Item!”

Rene Le Roy is a rather over-looked figure in the history of the French Flute School so this book, written in collaboration with Claude Dorgeuille and issued in 1966 is clearly of interest. Subtitled 'Historique, Technique et Pedagogique', the contents are a mixture of sketches, old prints, 1950's photos and exercises. The drawings of the position of the tongue in the mouth are fascinating and there are also some primitive x-rays illustrating the rib-cage and diaphragm. The text is entirely in French but there is enough visual content to warrent the purchase price. A collector's piece indeed!
