“A 'talking-point' piece.”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

This idiosyncratic piece can be played by three or more players with the option of adding a narrator or even a dancer to the performance. The parts are not at all difficult but the overall effect of such simplicity in the writing is of slightly obscure harmonies evoking the title of the piece and the poem that can be used with it. Good tonal control with centred intonation are essential as is the abilility to set the right mood. If you use a narrator there are instructions on where to place the text, but the dancer can interpret the music freely. This would certainly be a real 'talking-point' piece in a concert of flute chamber music!
