Maria Theresia Paradis, the daughter of the Court Councilor to the Empress Maria Theresa, after whom she was named. She lost her eyesight when very young and was treated in the 1770s by the Mesmer who was able to improve her condition temporarily. After she left his care, the blindness came back. This Sicilenne was said to have been dedicated or written for Mozart.

Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha (Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel, later the Prince Consort was born on 26 August 1819 ˆ 14 December 1861) was the husband of Queen Victoria of Great Britain with whom he had nine children. He enjoyed the arts and played the violin and composed a little. He died at the early age of 42, plunging the Queen into deep mourning that lasted for the rest of her life.

Franz (Ferenc) Liszt (October 22, 1811 ˆ July 31, 1886) In 1830, a friend of Liszt, Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve, published a set of poems, Consolations, which may have been the inspiration for these six pieces for solo piano. Liszt composed them in 1849-50 probably in homage to Chopin who had recently died.
