Tango Variations for Flute and Piano

“Dark and sparkling!”
The Tango is dark and this fascinating piece has exactly that undertone. Starting with a brooding and meandering theme over a Latin-style accompaniment the flute then takes off in the first variation marked allegro vivace e gusto. The second variation is expressive before the prestissimo con fuoco finale brings the piece to an unusual close. Dark and sparkling!
From the Publisher
Clifford Benson died in 2007, sadly before publication of this work. His compositions are very accessible. They are sparkling and fresh, full of melodic and rhythmic invention, contrasting textures, and harmonic humour, all intermixed with warmth, love and emotion,- and all of this sums up the man himself. - [William Bennett OBE Hon RAM].
The composer's wife, Mrs Dilys Benson and the publisher have dedicated this edition of Tango Variations to the memory of Clifford Benson. He will be sadly missed by many who knew him.
