Sunstreams and Sunday Morning for Flute and Piano
- Highly recommended
Pan - Journal of the British Flute Society
(Sunstreams and Hypnosis) While Chair of BFS, I awarded a Floscar to Ian, whose works have done more than anyone else’s to encourage students to continue learning in adolescence. I never get tired of teaching these two. Set for Grades 7 and 8, they do well at competitions.

Composer's Notes
"Two pieces of moderate tempo and difficulty. Sunstreams is of approximately grade 6 standard with accessible appeal. Its range is D 1st octave to A third octave. The showy more technical middle section lies under the fingers so is one of those ‘easier than it looks’ passages. No extended techniques are used. ‘Sunday Morning’ is a little more difficult at approximately grade7; grade 8 if the optional 8va is taken since it ventures to 4th octave Db. Timbral trills are employed for which fingerings are shown. Attractive and melodic in character, these are the easiest of Ian’s published work to date." - Ian Clarke
These pieces do not require B footjoint, and open holes are optional.
