“A piece you might otherwise never play!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

The great thing about being in a flute ensemble is that you can play string music by Bach! If the arrangement is good this can be a really good way of aquainting players with familiar music otherwise barred to us. This is certainly the case here,as Weinzierl and Wachter are masters of their craft. As much as possible has been taken directly from the original, with only octave transpositions used if needed. It works really well with four mixed flutes but add the extra three parts (all for C flutes) and you have a really great sound. Each movement could stand alone so the potential for performance is worth the price tag. Everyone loves Bach and you'll love this!

From the Publisher

The four string voices are linear and melodic, which suits the flute idiom, so the original can be used without major modifications. The alternative parts in the Overture and dances can be left out. However they give the flute ensemble more brilliance with their high registers. They are incluced in flute a, b and c and can be played by larger ensembles.
