From the Publisher

Although this music was written in the late spring of 2020 (at the time of the "lockdown" of ill-repute), a number of the ideas had been fermenting for several decades. The opportunity provided by Janna Huneke and the Flute School of London was timely indeed therefore and Janna is the dedicatee.

The opening movement is in sonata form with a metrically irregular 1st subject, a more lyrical 2nd idea and a fugato passage forming the main body of the development. The middle movement is a sort of romanza, whilst the Molto vivo is pretty well monothematic - at least its characteristic rhythmic contour features pretty well throughout. There are also occasional jazz formulations.
