As there are only relatively few baroque works for descant recorder, this sonata by Boismortier should attract the interest of both players and teachers. The first edition published in Paris in 1730 contained compositions for various melodic instruments (flute, recorder, oboe, hurdy-gurdy, bagpipe) among which the Sonata, originally written in G major, is particularly suited for descant recorder. Without the slightest change for the descant (or tenor) recorder, it was transposed to D major. A rewarding piece for concert performances and music lessons.Performance duration (approx): 20
