Johann Georg Tromlitz (1725-1805) was solo flutist of the 'Große Konzert' in Leipzig, the predecessor of the famous Gewandhaus Orchestra. He was not only a gifted performer but equally renowned as composer, flute-maker, teacher and author of influential treatises on educational matters.
