The 'Die Solo Flute' books are all interesting, and full of good pieces that can be used for both study and performance purposes. The list of composers in this volume are well-known nineteenth century names but they are represented by music that is less familiar. Drouet's Preludes are vocalise in style, his Cadences test technical virtuosity. Kummer's Fantasies are both serious and substantial workouts, and the many themes and variations included will develop performance style. This volume is great value for money and will provide entertainment for ages!
