Seventeen Flute Duets from The Magic Flute [Playing score(s)]
- Great for teachers
From the Publisher
These duets were originally published in Berlin soon after 1791, with the music printed in two separate part books, consisting of arias and instrumental pieces from Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute — first staged in Vienna in September 1791, in the Theater an der Wien (see front cover, featuring Karl Wenzel Zajicek’ painting ).
The duets were extremely popular for years to come, published by at least a dozen publishers in Austria, Germany, France and England. In fact, many of Mozart’s operas and symphonies were arranged for various combinations of instruments, including piano, flute, guitar, string trios, quartets and even windbands!
This new edition has been re-edited by Mark Goddard to address inconsistencies of articulation and dynamics between the parts, combine the two parts into a score format and modernise the notation.
