“If you're feeling adventurous this is for you!”
So here is something different. This substantial piece for solo flute starts with the foot joint, adds the body and eventually uses the whole flute to produce 'various archaic gestures' which take us to the French countryside surrounding a monastery. This unusual way of writing unexpectedly paints a magical soundscape which is fascinating. There are comprehensive performance instructions, and Mazur has also written a book (German text only) about these techniques. If you're feeling adventurous this is for you!
From the Publisher
A mood picture for solo flute, inspired by a visit to the Sénanque monastery and the surrounding Provençal landscape. This piece uses pars-per-toto playing techniques, which means that sounds are only used on parts of the flute (head, middle and foot). The piece is demanding and a challenge for flautists with a flair for experimental playing styles.
Performance duration (approx): 9'
