Doris Geller is a proven arranger and here she has adapted four of Tchaikovsky's expressive piano pieces very sensitively. The movements are mostly slow and although each part is relatively straightforward, they are completely independent. This will obviously be the challenge in performance. The famous Barcarolle is lovely but quite long and in general I think that this publication is probably best suited to adults. All the pieces are beautiful and any one of them would make a lovely addition to an ensemble programme.
