“A sumptous Romance!”
Originally for clarinet and piano, this stylish Romance translates very well onto the alto flute. The opening Andante has a lovely melody which meanders gently across the low register. The following Allegro is dance-like and makes full use of the alto's range to deliver its sweeping phrases before the Andante returns to end the piece as it began. There is plenty of detail in the performance markings to give structure to the phrases and help with interpretation, and it's always good to know that the accompaniment plays a purely supportive role. A sumptuous arrangement that is just lovely to play, this will also be very popular with your audience!
