From the Publisher
Quicksilver takes it's title from the old name for the element Mercury, a word with many connotations. It conjures up images of everything from the flowing, iridescent metal to the Roman god of the same name, traditionally depicted wearing a winged hlemet and sandals. This piece, with it's fast tempo and light dancing scalic passages creates a mood of excitement and exhilaration.
This piece is set in rondo form exploring different textures and timbres within the flute choir as the different flutes come to the fore. It is designed to be audience friendly whilst presenting an achievable musical and technical challenge to all the players.
Difficulty guide: 6-8
