From the Publisher

Quatraine II was composed in 1999 and first performed at the Royal College of Music, London that year in the RCM Woodwind Composition Competition, in which it was awarded the first prize.

This short piece for three piccolos and alto flute seeks to demonstrate the individual characteristics of the different members of the flute family, with chattering piccolos heard against the sonorous tone of the alto flute.
