“L'apres midi for all!”

Despite the fact that the opening flute solo is unfinished, this is a decent arrangement of this great work. There is no starring role here as the solo is passed around the top three parts, and everyone has to fill in the orchestral texture. Obviously there are gaps and not quite all the music is intact, but as a vehicle for introducing this music to those who might not otherwise get a chance to perform it, it's invaluable!
From the Publisher
One of the most famous flute solos ever written, here is your chance to play it in a totally different way. Gudrun Hinze has masterfully arranged this for a flute quintet consisting of three C Flutes, Alto Flute and Bass Flute. The second flute doubles on Piccolo, and the third flute has the option to double on a Schnarrkopf-Fla¶te (or buzzing headjoint), which is explained further in the notes. A variety of timbres are explored throughout this masterwork and it has been recorded by Quintessenz, the Leipzig Flute Ensemble, of which Gudrun is a member.
Difficulty guide: 7-8
