Nagahara are known for their range of options available to players when specifying an order for an instrument. This flute, featuring silver, two purities of gold, and platinum, is no exception. The 20k gold tubing for the headjoint is no longer offered as an option on new Nagaharas, making this a somewhat unique instrument. 

In addition to the platinum riser, the headjoint of this flute features Nagahara’s DA cut; a composite cut between their D and A variants, which has become the company’s most popular, aiming to provide a balance between a resistive headjoint with a dark tone and a more typically American free-blowing and bright one. The result is tangible in the flute’s tone, which requires slightly more air speed in the upper register than other American makes, with a sweeter and balanced overall character.

This flute has been checked over by our workshop and is in excellent condition.

About Nagahara

Born and raised in Japan, Kanichi Nagahara began his flute-making career as an apprentice with a major Japanese flute manufacturer primarily concentrating on headjoints and research & development.   He also studied traditional Japanese metalworking (including engraving, chasing, and inlay), with Mr. Asai, a master silver smith. Nagahara is truly a one-of-a-kind company, making a one-of-a-kind instrument. Having worked with both Japanese and American flute makers, Kanichi Nagahara has created an instrument which draws on the best aspects of both worlds, combining Japanese production ingenuity with traditional Boston craftsmanship.
