Our Description
This flute is a stellar example of Boston maker Lev Levit’s work. It has a robust and flexible sound throughout all registers, as one would expect of an American model gold flute. The Kingma System, specifically designed to minimally interfere with the standard Boehm mechanism, means that when playing chromatic music this flute will play at the fingers like any other Boehm flute.
When playing microtonal music, the keyword is laid out in an ergonomic and logical fashion. Players unfamiliar with the Kingma mechanism are encouraged to find and acquaint themselves with the intermediary quarter tone keys one at a time, until they have incorporated the whole quarter tone scale.
The additional keywork combined with the gold tube makes for a somewhat heavier flute, best suited for players who are used to, or prefer, that additional weight.
The quality of the workmanship - from the headjoint to the mechanism - is amongst the best we've seen from any manufacturer, and we have no hesitation in recommending this flute to the growing number of flute players playing Kingma system. This is a rare opportunity!

About Levit Flute Company
Lev Levit has worked in the Boston flute scene for many years. He began making flutes in 1993 at Powell Flutes, where he rapidly rose to department supervisor. He honed his skills at Brannen Brothers Flutemakers from 1999, until in 2010 he decided to pursue his dream of designing and handcrafting his own flute. In 2012 he established the Levit Flute Company and the Levit Kingma System flute was unveiled at the NFA in Las Vegas the same year, where it was universally praised.
