“Absolutely beautiful!”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
This is a re-worked version of Amanda Harberg's lovely work for flute and piano and was commissioned by the NFA to bring flute players together in a virtual world. It's absolutely beautiful! The scoring is imaginative, with all the instruments used to great effect. It can look quite daunting in terms of numbers for average flute choirs though, so it's good to know that it will work well without the percussion and the harp can be replaced with a piano. This could also cover any missing very low parts making performance a much more viable proposition. This is a great piece, guaranteed to bring any concert to an emotional conclusion.
From the Publisher
Amanda Harberg's well-loved PRAYER was originally composed in 2011 as a meditation on healing. The moving nature of the work's beautiful melody and harmony have led the composer to create a wide variety of instrumentations. In response to the global pandemic of 2020, and the cancellations of live performances, Harberg conceived "The Prayer Project" as a large-scale flute choir (plus harp and percussion) performing PRAYER as a distanced video with 100 musicians.
