Peter and the Wolf was arranged for the ALRY Flute Choir to perform at its annual Children's Concert. I Consider it an extreme challenge, in that a choir of flutes is performing music written for an entire orchestra. The ideal instrumentation for this arrangement is 2 Piccolos, 2 E-flat Flutes (or additional C Flutes), 5 or more C flutes, 3 or more Alto Flutes, 2 or more Bass Flutes, Oboe, Clarinet, Double Bass (or Contrabass Flute), 2 Percussionists, and a Narrator.
In this arrangement, the Piccolos are the bird, the E-flats the hunters, C Flutes are Peter, Alto Flutes the wolf, Bass Flutes the grandfather, Oboe the duck, Clarinet the cat, and Timpani the gunshots.
Difficulty guide: 9
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is total beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
