From the Publisher
‘Orpheus’ Head II is above all an abstract game of motifs and timbres between the solo instrument and the electroacoustic sounds, where they are brought closer to one another or contrasted with each other. It begins with a very low, almost static sound from the tape, against which the flute unfurls an expansive theme, brutally cut off by the striking of metal. This harsh effect is the only ‘concrete’ sound material in the tape part, recorded in 1982 in the former Citroën factory in Paris.’ Elzbieta Sikora ( fragment of the praface translated by John Comber )
