“This is a brilliant piece!”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

This tribute to Robert Dick, the genius who opened up a brand new sound world for flute players, is wonderful! The choice of a blues is imaginative and its essence is imaginatively expanded by Ittzes' use of the contemporary techniques that Robert made so accessible. Flying Lessons No 5 has been a great inspiration for composers since it was written and with the same multiphonic patterns it's easy to spot here. There is the same energy too plus some witty touches that add an extra element of fun to the whole piece. If you're a contemporary technique virtuoso this is for you - it's brilliant!

From the Publisher

This set of variations is one of the early compositions of Gergely Ittzés which refers to one of his inspirations, Robert Dick. The main motive is taken from his Flying Lesson Nr.5 but ellaborated freely and extensively.
