  • Interesting, worth a look

From the Publisher

Caprice no. 14 as you've never heard it before! An accompaniment has been added to the original flute solo and then arranged to make a fun and lively piece playable by a flute choir or flute quartet. The final two bars require flutter tonguing.

Karg-Elert was a German composer and pianist, strongly lead by the musical advice of Edvard Grieg and, like so many others of his generation, trained at the Music Conservatory in Leipzig. The 30 Caprices for flute were written for his friend, Carl Bartuzat, principal flute of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, whilst they were playing in a regimental band during WW1. It is interesting to note the co-incidence of the opus no. 107 with Karg-Elert having been enlisted into the 107th Infantry Regiment.
