Performance/Technique Notes

Flute/vocal Combinations: work to have NO buzzing in the combined sound of the flute and voice!

Make the flute sound hollow to help accomplish this. Voice should ultimately be louder than the flute part.

Tongued pizzicato: a clean, clear-note pizzicato that resonates and distinguishes the pitch, but does not create the tone as flute is normally played. It is more like a pitched drum with no white noise in producing this effect. It is create by a push of air with the tongue striking in the middle of the roof of mouth while keeping the nasal passages closed. Keep these notes buoyant.

Performance duration (approx): 5'15

Difficulty guide: 9
Difficulty level, roughly compared to ABRSM exam grades. 0 is total beginner, 9 is advanced (beyond grade 8).
