“A lovely book for developing sound.”

Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]

Marco Bordogni originally wrote these Vocalises for trombone. Luckily Larry Clark has transcribed them to fit the flute perfectly! There are 54 exercises in all, ranging from a simple C major melody to those in more complex keys with more notes. All are written to encourage the development of a strong melodic line and intelligent breathing across the range of the flute, although there are no really high notes here. You can make of them what you will of course, as that is the very nature of a Vocalise and if you're feeling really adventurous they lend themselves quite easily to some simple improvisation. However you choose to use them they will always provide a wonderful source of supplementary material which you will enjoy playing simply for the love of it!

From the Publisher

Bordogni composed many sets of vocalises during his career as teacher. These works are artistically and musically superior and are not just technical studies. The expressive nature of these etudes is a tribute to the great musicianship of this wonderful singer and teacher.

It is hoped that these etudes, as transcribed for the flute, will help to improve the expressive playing of flute players everywhere.
