“Something different!”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
A piece about cats is bound to be popular and this imaginative piece for two flutes and piano is unlikely to buck the trend! The style is as quirky as the cats, with some jazz influences and dissonance in the harmony, catchy rhythms and contrasting sections which make sure that nothing stays still for very long. The piano writing adds character and glues the whole piece together while the flutes either share the spoils or blend together in thirds and sixths. This is something quite different and well worth a try!
From the Publisher
This piece is dedicated to Sister Rosalia of Assisi, Italy, who helped organize the Assisi Performing Arts Festival and loved attending every concert. Rosalia approached the composer, Nicole Buetti after a performance, and asked if she would write a piece for her beloved cats, Barby and Toby. Always enjoying composing uplifting musical portraits, Nicole completed the piece and it premiered the following year at the festival with Sister Rosalia in attendance. The piece is a “purr-fect”, light-hearted representation of two cats and their many lives together. An enjoyable piece for players and audiences alike.
