The Lyrical Flutist is full of sumptuous melodies, some familiar, others less so and this results in a very interesting and useful book. These are not just simple arrangements of the tune but are more like fantasies on a theme. Fur Elise, for example, intersperses fragments of the melody with plenty of arpeggio figures extending across the range, while Air on a G String starts with the tune before taking on an almost variation format, returning to the tune at the end. It's a great book if you need to play famous music at an occasion such as a wedding or other big event, some would work as solo recital pieces and all will improve your flute playing in some way. Buy this and you'll be ready for anything!
