Legends for Flute and Piano

The four pieces that make up 'Legends' are all short but packed with the interesting musical features that characterize Coleman's music. 'Lin-Fa' is pastoral in nature with a flowing melody and subtle hints of the orient. Dagda's Harp has the unusual direction 'as fast as you want' so the 6/8 can be lyrical or dynamic, the beautiful 'Gaia' has scope for some sensitive rubato and the energetic 'El Encierro' has all the energy you would expect from a Mexican Mariachi band! Approachable for both flute player and pianist, each one would stand alone and they are all ideally suited to more intermediate level of performance. A great introduction to the music of Valerie Coleman and lovely as well!
