Following a trip to Morocco, Kabylian was composed for rarescale in 2007. The piece is based on music the composer heard in the Sahara Desert performed by a group of musicians who danced whilst playing a collection of drums and bells in a celebration which lasted until sunrise. The Kabylian tribe in neighbouring Algeria play very similar music
