From the Publisher
A medley of tunes by Johanna Kinkel, the woman composer who had such a fascinating life and made her mark in the worlds of both music and literature. Born in Bonn, where she learnt with Beethoven's teacher, she was a friend of Fanny Mendelssohn and Karl Marx, got caught up in the events of 1849 and emigrated to London after helping her revolutionary husband to escape from Spandau prison. Her short life ended tragically when she fell from her bedroom window near Paddington station. I created this work as a birthday present to play at the birthday party of my friend Monica Klaus, biographer of Johanna Kinkel.
