“Ardent and Unfeigned, Andriessen's writing will move you.”
Charles Sinden Just Flutes staff member
This is a dark and heartfelt work in which the harp and flute are strong, independent voices weaving in and out of each other. Written beautifully for the instruments, it exploits the sonorous bass register of the harp and the flute's ability to soar.
Dutch-born Andriessen was drawn to the music of Cesar Franck, Roussel and Pierne. The influence of French music is apparent in this piece, although it never loses the expressionism at its core.
