“Lovely!”
This is an interesting and colourful piece by the little known composer Rudolf Tillmetz. It is in the standard format of Hungarian Fantasies - introduction, theme and then variations, and none of it is ground-breaking stuff. However it does represent a possible first introduction to the genre and is also a good technical work-out for the accomplished player. It's also lovely!
From the Publisher
The "Hungarian Fantasy" op. 25 surprises with its beauty and immediately causing enthusiasm, which here reveals a composer who knew the possibilities of the flute extremely well and demands far less technical skills from the flutist than the listener may seem and is in in the best sense of the word entertaining salon music, which will hopefully enter into a pleasing competition for the "Fantasie pastorale hongroise" op. 26 by Franz Doppler.
