Hotfoot is challenging enough to be interesting but not so difficut as to be daunting, so it's exactly the piece to stretch a developing ensemble. After the opening improvised bar, it settles down into a rhythmic workout, constantly changing between 6/8 and 3/4 but at a manageable speed.There is then a faster 8/8 section which needs real precision in the playing to be effective. Not everyone will enjoy the sound world created here but it is great fun to play once you get into it!
