“Challenging writing at its best!”
The six movements of Hasta La Riaz are full of contrasts. All are improvisatory in character, by turns enigmatic, dance-like, plaintive and joyful and all are underpinned by an understanding of the colour possibilities of the alto and the contribution of extended techniques can make to the overall texture. This is challenging writing at its best!
