From the Publisher
Commissioned as a test piece for the 11th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition, Motoharu Kawashima’s Hama-Con-Plex is a brilliant tour-de-force as well as a tour du repertoire. It is based on fragments from the ten most performed piano concertos from previous finals of the Hamamatsu Competition including concertos by Tchaikovsky, Liszt, Mozart, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov. Each fragment is limited to material in which the two hands form a single idiom, and therefore not necessarily the most famous parts of each piece, as they do not contain any structure of melody and accompaniment or any contrapuntal content.
