“An early Romantic concertino”
Chris Hankin Just Flutes staff member - [email protected]
Wilms was an undoubtedly early Romantic composer heavily influenced by Beethoven Here is a lovely Concertino, through composed but in three distinct fast slow fast sections that looks forward rather than back. The minor key is quite unusual for the classical period, the note range suggests a more developed instrument and the level of difficully shows that Wilms had clearly been talking to Tulou! A neglected work that deserves to be more popular.
