“Lovely music for this unusual combination.”
This is such a lovely work! Molnar-Suhajda has captured the nostalgic feel of Paris in the Autumn, producing four delightful movements that are completly different in character. 'Feuilles' pairs the scuttering of fallen leaves with a wistful melody. 'L'ete de Saint-Martin' also has a reflective feel created by a rich alto solo over a simple bassline and adds momentum by using the upper flutes to enhance the colour. The Waltz is graceful with a simple figure in thirds anchoring the dance rhythms in place. The closing 'Fete de jardins' is more complex in texture, the lilting 6/8 and the interesting sonorities shifting restlessly to create a yet more melancholy feel. It might not be Spring but you'll fall in love with this!
