Ergonomic Thumb Rest
When playing vertical flute, our clip on thumb rest is a helpful tool to balance the flute easily. The thumb rest is part of every Fliphead bundle and can also be ordered as a single item.

The easy to learn embouchure makes the Fliphead ideal for beginners of all ages, that will literally play the first scale in just a few minutes.

Due to its easy to learn embouchure, the Fliphead can be a perfect transition from sax to flute playing. With Fliphead the sax-section in school bands, lab bands and jazz orchestras can start doubling on flute easily.
Two Mouthpiece Options
We offer 2 different mouthpiece designs: the initial Fliphead model and the latest Flow model. Both pieces have their own sound and playing feel. The mouthpieces are interchangeable and can be used with the same neck, if you already own a Fliphead bundle. We offer our bundles equipped with one or the other mouthpiece. Our mouthpieces pieces are machined accurately in a one-piece-design (laser-sintered, not 3D-printed or injection-molded!). The material is very durable, scratchproof, biocompatible and has excellent sound qualities.
AM-1 - More Air, Open Sound
Our initial Fliphead model has an open wind way and a large chamber. It has very little resistance and creates an open sound. The high register is louder and needs more air compared to the Flow model. Sax players who are used to play open mouthpieces often prefer this model over the Flow model.
AM-2 FLOW - Less Air, More Resistance
The new Flow model has a narrow wind way and a smaller chamber size. It has slightly more resistance. Players that want to use less air - especially in the high register - will like the new Flow model. This one is a good choice for classical players and beginners or can be a second sound option. The sound is less spread and slightly softer. It also helps to play longer notes.
Fitting
The neck is supplied with a diameter of approx. 19.7 mm and fits the flute models Pearl Quantz series, Azumi Z and S Series as well as Yamaha YFL-2xx, YFL-3xxx and YFL-4xxx without any adjustment. If adjustment is required, we're able to carry this out for you in our workshop: please contact us.
Our Description
Convert your flute into a fully chromatic low whistle with the Fliphead mouthpiece. Fliphead consists of a fipple mouthpiece on a silver-plkated tube with bent neck, which enables you to hold the flute in front of you like a recorder, clarinet or saxophone, rather than out to the side.
Two mouthpiece designs are available and are easily interchangeable. Fliphead is perfect for:
- Flute players wanting fully chromatic low whistle sound without the stretch of the real thing
- Players with shoulder problems who find it uncomfortable or painful to hold a transverse flute
