“A delightful collection”
This is a great array of beloved Irish Folk Tunes, including classics such as ‘The Butterfly’ and ‘Down by the Salley Gardens’. The notated ornamentation in the flute part is delicate yet characterful, while the piano part frames it beautifully and features some interesting harmonic progressions. A fantastic choice for many occasions.
From the Publisher
This set of five arrangements of well known Irish folk tunes features slow airs, reels, and a slip jig. Starting with the famous Sally Gardens (a song that Benjamin Britten also arranged) the music gradually winds itself up towards a brilliant conclusion with The Star of Munster. The pieces contain some ornamentation, as well as idiomatic harmonies, and these give a real flavour of Irish music at its best. I’m very grateful to Michelle Lundy for her suggestions in making this music suitable for the harp.
