The five pieces are charming minaitures that were originally composed for 2 violins, bass, flute and drum. They are presented here in a simplified version for flute, drum and piano, to be enjoyed in ensemble playing by young musicians.
A second flute part can be used ad libitum in the upper part of Contradanses No 1 and No 2.
It is difficult to establish a minimum age limit for the player of the drum part in Nos 3 and 4. It is also possible to use a little drum with snares here. The order of the pieces can be altered at will according to the circumstances at the performance.
No matter how the various parts are distributed in the classroom or during performance - the result should be a little parade of festive and sprightly Mozart music!'
